The Yukon First Nations Income Tax Credit is for individuals who live on the settlement lands of a self-governing Yukon First Nation. This credit is part of the tax sharing arrangement between the Government of Canada, Government of Yukon, and self-governing Yukon First Nations, that provides a tax reduction so that you don’t end up paying more taxes than required to both the federal and Yukon governments.
You can claim this credit if, on December 31, you lived on one of the Yukon First Nations settlement lands listed below:
• Carcross/Tagish
• Champagne and Aishihik
• Kluane

H&R Block’s tax software automatically applies this credit to your return provided you’ve indicated on the Your residence page that you lived on a Yukon First Nations settlement land.
