You will see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if, when entering your information on the Splitting your pension income section on the Your 2016 income page, you entered an amount for total tax deducted from your pension income that was more than the total tax deducted from all your T slips combined (T4, T4A, T4A-RCA, etc.):
The total tax deducted from the pension income you want to split is more than the total tax deducted from all your T slips. Please correct your entry. [error code: 356]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, enter the total tax deducted from your pension income in the designated field of the Splitting your pension income section of the Your 2016 income page. This amount can’t be more than the combined amount of income tax reported on your T slips. Refer to the following slips to make sure the amount you entered is accurate:
- T4 Box 22
- T4A Box 22
- T4A (OAS) Box 22
- T4A-RCA Box 22
- T4E Box 22
- T4RIF Box 28
- T4RSP Box 30
- T5013 Box 274
