You will see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if, on the T5007: Statement of benefits form, you entered an amount in box 11 (Social assistance payments or provincial or territorial supplements) but you did not confirm whether or not you received these payments from a province other than Manitoba:

Since you entered an amount in box 11 (social assistance payments or provincial or territorial supplements) on the T5007 page, please confirm you received social assistance payments from a province other than Manitoba. If you received social assistance benefits from Manitoba, confirm if you received them for the full year, then enter a percentage (more than 0, but less than 1) in box 14, as shown on the T5007 slip, if applicable. [error code: 316]

How do I fix this?

To correct the error, indicate on form T5007 if you received social assistance payments from a province other than Manitoba. If you didn't and only received social assistance payments from Manitoba, then confirm if you received these payments for the full year and enter the percentage of social assistance into the designated field of the form.

Note: To enter your T5007 into the software, go to the QUICK ENTRY tab and click on the QUICK SLIP icon. Type "T5007" in the search field and either click the highlighted selection or press Enter to continue.
