You will see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if, when completing the T5: Statement of investment income page, you entered an amount in box 17 (Royalties from Canadian sources) but you didn't tell us if these royalties were from work or an invention of yours:
It looks like you’ve entered an amount in box 17 of the T5 page but you didn’t confirm if these royalties were from work or an invention of yours. Let’s go back and respond to the following question on the T5 page: Were the royalties you entered in box 17 above from a work or invention of yours? [error code: 384]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, on the T5 page, select Yes or No to the question Were the royalties you entered in box 17 above from a work or invention of yours?. This question is only displayed on the T5 page if you entered an amount in box 17.
