You will see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if you are the spouse or common-law partner with the higher net income and you reported universal child care benefit (UCCB) income that your family received, on your return:
You reported universal child care benefit income (from an RC62 slip). The person with the lower net income should report all the UCCB income your family received. Please remove the RC62 slip from your return since you are the person with the higher income and include the amounts in your spouse’s return instead. [error code: 374]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, remove the UCCB amount(s) from your return and include it on your spouse or common-law partner’s return. Since UCCB amounts are taxable income, the spouse or common-law partner with the lower net income must report it on their return.
Note: You can enter your UCCB amount when you enter your RC62 slip. On the QUICK SLIP page under the QUICK ENTRY tab, simply type "RC62" in the search box and click the +Add button.
