You will see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if, when entering your mailing address on the Your mailing address page, you entered invalid characters in the field for the apartment number:
The apartment you entered doesn't seem to be valid. The apartment number can only contain numbers, letters, spaces, ampersands (&), and slashes. [error code: 296]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, enter your apartment number in the Apt. Number field of the Your mailing address page using only the following characters:
- Letters
- Numbers
- Ampersands (&)
- Forward slashes
