You'll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if, when entering your information on the T5: Statement of investment income page, you entered an amount in box 13 (Interest from Canadian sources) but you did not choose the corresponding type of interest from the dropdown menu:
You need to choose the type of interest for the amount entered in box 13 on the T5 page. [error code: 270]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, on the T5 page, select the type of interest from the dropdown menu that corresponds to the amount you entered in box 13. You can choose from among the following options:
- Bank
- Bond
- Mortgage
Note: To enter your T5 slip into the software, go to the QUICK ENTRY tab and click on the QUICK SLIP icon. Type "T5" in the search field then click the highlighted selection or press Enter to continue.
