You'll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if, you're not a resident of Québec and entered an RL-1 slip with an amount in box E (Québec income tax withheld at source) that was higher than box A (Employment income):
The amount you entered in box E (Québec income tax withheld at source) can’t be higher than the amount in box A (Employment income) on the RL-1 page. Make sure you entered the amounts shown on the RL-1 slip correctly. [error code: 263]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, enter the amounts from your RL-1 paper slip correctly into the RL-1 page of the tax software. Remember that the amount in box E cannot be more than box A.
Note: To enter your RL-1 slip into the software, go to the QUICK ENTRY tab and click on the QUICK SLIP icon. Type "RL-1" or "relevé 1" in the search field then click the highlighted selection or press Enter to continue.
