You'll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if on form RC267: Contributions to a United States retirement plan – temporary assignments you entered your 2016 contributions to a U.S. retirement plan and the amount of contributions that would be excluded from your income but did not enter your resident compensation for the year:
You need to enter the resident compensation in 2016 because you entered 2016 contributions to the U.S. retirement plan and the amount of contributions that would be excluded from income on the U.S. return. [error code: 253]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, enter your resident compensation amount for the year on the RC267 form.
