You'll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if you're a resident of Prince Edward Island and you entered an amount that is more than the maximum claim amount on the Prince Edward Island equity tax credit page:
The amount claimed for the equity tax credit can’t be more than $7,000. Make sure you entered the correct amount. [error code: 251]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, enter the correct amount of your equity tax credit as shown on your 2016 PE-ETC certificate in H&R Block’s tax software. The maximum amount you can claim per year is $7,000.
Note: The Prince Edward Island equity tax credit page can be found under the PENSION PLAN AND INVESTMENTS icon of the PREPARE tab.
