Warning Message : T4AP_BOX20

You'll see the following warning message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if the combined amounts you entered in boxes 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19 exceed the amount you entered in box 20 (taxable CPP/QPP benefits) on the T4A(P): Statement of Canada Pension Plan Benefits page:

The total amounts entered in box 14 (retirement benefit), box 15 (survivor benefit), box 16 (disability benefit), box 17 (child benefit), box 18 (death benefit), and box 19 (post-retirement benefit) can’t be more than the amount entered in box 20 (taxable CPP/QPP benefits). Make sure you entered the amounts shown on the T4A(P) slip correctly. [warning]

How do I fix this?

To clear the warning, enter the correct amounts into the following boxes as shown on your T4A(P) slip:

  • Box 14 – Retirement benefit
  • Box 15 – Survivor benefit
  • Box 16 – Disability benefit
  • Box 17 – Child benefit
  • Box 18 – Death benefit
  • Box 19 – Post-retirement benefit
  • Box 20 – Taxable CPP/QPP benefits

Note: To enter your T4A(P) slip into the software, go to the QUICK ENTRY tab and click on the QUICK SLIP icon. Type "T4A(P)" in the search field and either click the highlighted selection or press Enter to continue.
