You'll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if you indicated on the T4A(P): Statement of Canada Pension Plan Benefits page that the combined benefit period during which you received disability and (or) retirement benefits was more than 12 months:
The total for the number of months entered in box 21 and box 23 on the T4A(P) page can’t be more than 12. Make sure you entered the number of months shown on the T4A(P) slip correctly. [error code: 221]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, enter the correct number of months during which you received disability and retirement benefits during the year as shown on your T4A(P) slip.
- Box 21 – Number of months during 2016 you received disability benefits
- Box 23 – Number of months during 2016 you received retirement benefits
Note: To enter your T4A(P) slip into the software, go to the QUICK ENTRY tab and click on the QUICK SLIP icon. Enter "T4A(P)" in the search field and either click the highlighted selection or press Enter to continue.
