You'll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if you selected a province or territory of self-employment that is different from the province or territory you lived in on December 31:
The province or territory of self-employment must be the same as the province or territory you lived in on December 31st, 2016. [error code: 173]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, choose the province or territory of your self-employment that is the same as the province or territory you lived in on December 31st, 2016. To do so, on the LET'S TALK ABOUT 2016 page under the PREPARE tab, click the checkbox I worked for myself. Then, from the list that appears, select the province or territory where you were self-employed.
