You'll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if, when completing the RL-15: Amounts allocated to the members of a partnership page, you entered a taxable amount of dividends (eligible or ordinary) but did not enter the actual amount of dividends (eligible or ordinary):
You need to enter an amount in box 6a (Actual amount of eligible dividends) or box 6b (Actual amount of ordinary dividends) on the RL-15 page, since you entered an amount in box 6a.1, 6a.2, 6a.3, 6b.1, 6b.2 and/or 6b.3 in the bottom section of the page. Make sure you entered all the amounts shown on the RL-15 slip. [error code: RQ195]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, on the RL-15 page in the tax software, enter an amount in either box 6a (Actual amount of eligible dividends) or box 6b (Actual amount of ordinary dividends) as shown on your paper RL-15 slip, if you entered an amount in any of the following boxes:
- 1 - Taxable amount of eligible dividends
- 2 - Taxable amount of eligible dividends situated on a reserve or premises
- 3 - Taxable amount of eligible dividends - Split income of a minor
- 1 - Taxable amount of ordinary dividends
- 2 - Taxable amount of ordinary dividends situated on a reserve or premises
- 3 - Taxable amount of ordinary dividends - Split income of a minor
To see the above boxes on the RL-15 page, you must answer Yes to the question Do you have additional boxes on your slip?.
Note: To enter your RL-15 slip into the software, go to the QUICK ENTRY tab and click on the QUICK SLIP icon. Enter "RL-15"in the search field and either click the highlighted selection or press Enter to continue.
