Error Message RQ190: RL3_BoxB_NEEDS_BoxA1_OR_BoxA2

You'll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if, when completing the RL-3: Investment income page, you entered the taxable amount of dividends you received from taxable Canadian corporations in box B, but did not enter the actual amount for eligible dividends received in box A1 OR the actual amount of ordinary dividends received in box A2:

Since you entered an amount for box B (Taxable amount of dividends from taxable Canadian corporations) on the RL-3 page, you need to enter an amount for box A1 (Actual amount of eligible dividends) or box A2 (Actual amount of ordinary dividends), as shown on the RL-3 slip received. [error code: RQ190]

How do I fix this?

To correct the error, on the RL-3 slip in the software, enter either the amount in box A1 OR box A2 as shown on your RL-3 paper slip.

Note: To enter your RL-3 slip in the software, navigate to the QUICK SLIP page under the QUICK ENTRY tab. Then, type "RL-3"in the search field and either click the highlighted selection or press Enter to continue.
