You will see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if you are a resident of Saskatchewan and, while filing a return separate from your spouse or common-law partner, you entered a senior supplementary amount on the Amounts from [spouse]’s 2016 return page that exceeds the allowable transfer amount:
The senior supplement amount your spouse or common-law partner is transferring to you can’t be higher than $1258.00. Please correct the amount you entered. [error code: 186]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, enter the correct senior supplementary transfer amount into the designated field of the Amounts from [spouse]’s 2016 return page. The maximum senior supplementary amount you can transfer from your spouse or common-law partner is $1,258.
Note: The Amounts from [spouse]’s 2016 return page can be found on the PREPARE tab under the OTHER icon.
