You'll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if, on form TP-59-V: Employment expenses of salaried employees and employees who earn commission, the description of other expenses you entered contained more than 70 characters:
The information you entered in a field is longer than the maximum number of characters allowed. Please ensure the text you enter is 70 characters or less. [error code: RQ187]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, on form TP-59, ensure the description you enter for other expenses you are claiming under any of the following sections, does not exceed 70 characters in length (including spaces):
- Cost of supplies
- Motor-vehicle expenses
- Expenses related to an office in your home
