You will see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if you have accidentally entered your date of birth, the date of birth of your spouse or common-law partner, or the date of birth of a dependant as a date prior to January 1, 1890.

You need to enter a date of birth that’s after 1890-01-01. [error code: 116]

How do I fix this?

To correct the error, enter the correct date of birth in the designated field in the following format: YYYY-MM-DD
