About your mailing address

When entering your mailing address, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) only allows the use of certain special characters in the City field. For example, if the name of your city includes a period, you can only use a hyphen after the period. Any other special character (like a slash) or a space aren’t allowed after the use of a period. For example, if you live in St. John’s, you can only enter it in either of the following formats:

  • St.Johns (no space or apostrophe)
  • St Johns (no period or apostrophe)

If you’re entering a P.O. box number, be sure to only enter the numbers in the designated field on this page. For example:

Correct format: 99

Incorrect format: PO99, PO Box 99
