You’ll see the following error message on the ERRORS page in H&R Block’s 2016 tax software if, on the Your 2016 income page, you’re claiming an amount of RRSP contributions that’s more than the actual contributions you made:
The amount of RRSP contributions you want to claim for 2016 can’t be higher than the contributions you made (${1}). [error code: 103]
How do I fix this?
To fix this error, return to the Your 2016 income page and under the Your RRSP claims section, enter the amount of RRSP contributions you want to claim this year. Remember, this amount can’t be more than your RRSP contributions for the year plus any unused RRSP contributions that are available for deduction.
If you want to claim the maximum allowable amount, simply select Yes in response to the question: You have ${1} in RRSP contributions that can be claimed for 2016. Do you want to claim the maximum allowable amount?
Note: You can find the Your 2016 income page under the OPTMIZATION icon on the WRAP-UP tab.
